The Cobb County School District will implement Student Learning Objective Assessments (SLOs) during the 2015-2016 school year. These assessments consist of a pre-test in August/September and a post-test in April/May.
SLOs are subject-specific learning objectives that provide growth measures for student learning. Teams of Cobb County teachers from throughout the district developed the SLO assessments that we will administer this year. Our class will take the SLO assessments for Physical Education, Art, and Music and 4thgrade ALP students will take the Advanced Learning Program SLO assessment.
For the 2015-2016 school year, the SLO implementation requires teachers to use assessments to determine student growth over the course of the year. The results of these assessments ensure that students, teachers, and schools are moving toward a common vision of exemplary instruction and high levels of student academic growth.
Not that we are counting, but 3 1/2 more weeks until we are out and you have a 5th grader!
We have a mock relay on Friday and Field Day is coming up on May 13th!
We will also be working on our pillowcase project! If you haven't sent in a donation, material, or permission, please send it in!
Almost to the finish line!
I hope you all have heard about our pillowcase project! If not, I am attaching the letter and permission slip for you to check it out! We will more than likely start at the end of the first week of May. If you have any questions please let me know!

Please encourage your child to get plenty of sleep and eat a healthy breakfast (protein and low sugar). These next two days are going to be so busy trying to get the last couple of standards taught, as well as review some of the earlier material. We can do it! Stay focused and read every question at least two times.

Please remember to send in the positive notes for your child; they really love that encouragement before the test!
Also, if you could send in the snack/treat you signed up for by Tuesday, that would be awesome...we appreciate you!

Don't worry if you weren't in the show, because you will all have the chance to "Show what you know" after the Milestones. Stay tuned.......more details to follow!
Don't forget report cards go home Tuesday AND Author's Night is also Tuesday at 6:00 pm. The students will read their favorite poem at our "Poetry Slam!" Hope to see you there :-)
