Field Trip Information
We are excited to announce our field trip to the Chattahoochee Nature Center. The students will be participating in their Water’s Ways and Wild Wetlands programs. The permission slip, behavior contract, and $30 payment is due by Wednesday, March 14th. We apologize for the quick turnaround, but the nature center requests the non-refundable money within 2 weeks of booking the trip. We will ask for chaperones privately and individually. Those chaperones will need to pay $30 and drive themselves to the nature center. They are welcome to carpool and follow the buses from the school. Again, wait until you hear directly from your child’s teacher for chaperone confirmation. Check your child’s information sheet for more specifics. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for supporting a fun, safe, and educational experience for these children.

Thank you for spoiling us with cards, treats and gifts this week......you all are AMAZING!!! Have a fantastic week off!
NO SCHOOL NEXT WEEK FOR WINTER BREAK (FEBRUARY 19TH - 23RD). ENJOY YOUR TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY!!!
Please take the time to wash jackets, bookbags, etc. and wipe out and disinfect lunchboxes, binders, books, etc. before we return on Monday. We've have several cases of the flu in our school, so we want to keep everyone healthy. We definitely can't afford to miss any more days!!
Happy New Year and Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a great, relaxing and fun break. We are ready to go tomorrow at 7:50 AM. Can't wait to see all your bright and happy faces again!
Below is a calendar for Milestones review that will be starting Monday, January, 29th. This will be explained in further detail next week and a printed copy of the calendar will go home as well. We are highly recommending that your child reviews the information that is listed for each particular day to help prepare him/her for testing. If they do a little each day, they will be more than ready (and feel more confident) come testing day! :-)

5th grade will be taking our Milestone test online this year. This is really exciting! In order to be prepared for this we need to increase our typing skills. I have introduced the students to Typetastic.com. It is great for practicing those keyboarding skills. Even though this program is great for a tablet, we want the students to practice on a keyboard. We will be providing time during the day to practice but if they can practice every night for 10 minutes that would be helpful! Thank you for your support!

Our Eaglenasium #4 Challenge is now OPEN! It is entitled "JOY" to match the season! To meet this challenge you simply read books that bring you JOY and log the minutes in Bibionasium. You will need to read 300 minutes to complete the challenge. I know that sounds like a lot of minutes, but you can start today, November 29th and you have through Winter Break, January 3rd, which is over 4 weeks. If you read 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week, that's 100 minutes a week. So, potentially, you could be done by December 20th! So, join me today and earn the challenge.

As you know, the Milestones test begins Wednesday, April 19th. You should have received a letter in your child's Thursday folders regarding this. One thing we failed to mention and can cause a testing irregularity is cell phone usage during testing:

Big Shanty Intermediate Presents...........
House Color PENNY WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!! March 1st – March 10th The goal of this fundraiser is to be the house color with the most points at the end of the “war.” You earn points by putting pennies into your house color’s jug. Each penny is worth one point for your team. However, other teams can “sabotage” your jug by putting silver coins (nickels, dimes, quarters) or paper (bills) into your team’s jug. Face value of silver and paper is DEDUCTED from the jug’s total (of course, all of the money helps Big Shanty’s STEM and PBIS program)! The winning house color gets lunch on the stage (pizza) AND a homework pass! ****Remember, it’s easy to make the race closer if you fall behind. One team’s 500 point lead can be immediately erased by a $5 contribution (sabotage) into that team’s bucket!*** Parents, if you would like to purchase a ¼ page yearbook dedication for $25, the website is: www.yearbookordercenter.com and our school code is 20824 J. If you have any yearbook questions, please let Mrs, Fusaro in the front office know....thanks!
