What fun we had today making a physical feature cookies!! Thanks Harmony's family for making one of the cookies!
We had a great week! This week we will be learning more about Economics, mainly budgeting, spending, and saving. At the end of the week we will touch on some Economic vocab words that we will use while learning about Native Americans, Explorers, and the Colonies. We will wrap up physical features tomorrow with a huge cookie that we will decorate with the physical features! I am so excited!
In Reading we learned about summarizing a fiction text and this week we will learn about summarizing a non fiction text. Don't forget that your student should be reading every night and completing an Eagle Eye (that you need to sign) every week.
Grammar we will focus on progressive verbs and still review relative pronouns. Look for homework on Monday that will be on adjectives, that will be due Friday, front and back of the page. We will have a quiz on Friday, just have your student review our Daily Language that we do everyday this week.
In writing we will continue to learn about the writing process, the organizer, and editing a paper. In Science they will be starting their first "big writing" assignment involving the water cycle.
As a reminder, we are having a "green out" on Friday. We have visitors coming from the State Department of Education to officially present us with the Green Ribbon Award! So exciting!
We have launched our My Whole School program and students are earning points towards a hat and their first pin!
Have a great week! If your student comes and tells me what they should wear on Friday, I will have special pencil for them!
On Sept. 11 at 1:45, Big Shanty Intermediate would like to invite all community and family members out to our blacktop for a small presentation to thank our local First Responders. Please feel free to join us in singing and speaking about how thankful we are for their hard work and dedication to our community.
Please remember that even though this is at the end of the day, Big Shanty will follow its normal dismissal procedures.
Hello Parents! Next week is Mrs. BereNGER'S week for parent volunteers to help out in the media center. If you have an hour or two to spare, Mrs. Shager and Mrs. Ardt would greatly appreciate it! Here is the link to sign up:
Thank you so much for attending Open House this week. It was so nice to see so many parents! Please email me if you have any questions or concerns, and I will get back to you a soon as I can.
Please check out the entries for math and science regularly to what what's going on in those classes.
I hope you all have a great weekend! Mrs. Berenger
In reading we covered inference with several funny videos, pictures, and stories. In writing we set up our writing notebook and in Social Studies we talked about Map Skills. FYI, there is a quiz on Wednesday over the vocabulary for Map Skills. The students made a flip book study guide and the words are also on the Social Studies tab.
Next week there will be a crime scene in the room! This will support inference and our narrative writing of a mystery. We will also start physical features of the US (power point link under Social Studies tab) and main idea in Reading.
We will start "Fab Five" next week and that depends on students being able to work independently.
Have a great weekend!
