In my class, we are continuing to work on Native Americans in Social Studies. This week we are learning about the Inuit and Hopi Tribes. We have our Tepee set up in our room and the students have done a great job showing respect to each other.
In grammar we continue to do a daily review and have a quiz every Friday. We are also working on complete sentences and modal auxiliaries. I attached a power point under the Reading tab for you to take a look at for modal auxiliaries. A lot of times these abstract concepts of grammar can be difficult to grasp.
We are working on a huge writing assignment this week. We have worked hard to practicing the writing process and building our writing resources. The writing assignment is on dream catchers. We learned about the legend of the dream catchers and how the Native Americans believed they can catch the bad dreams. When the students are done we will be making our own dream catchers!
We are also working on theme in Reading and how we can determine the theme of a story.
